This Is The Way We Wash Our Hands

Published on: December 22, 2021 | Author: Shmutzies Bathtub Team

Keeping clean and safe is more important than ever

this-is-the-way-we-wash-our-hands

I don’t know about you but I’m not really seeing an end to this pandemic in sight.  With new variants coming about, what is safe anymore?  Now more than ever we must do what we can to keep ourselves safe.  That means continuing to wear masks, staying 6 feet apart and washing our hands continually.  Does it suck?  You bet it does!  But it is also very necessary to keep ourselves safe and well.

As a small handmade natural soap company, we feel the need to do our public service and remind you that the best way to ward off any germs and bacteria is to wash with soap.  And according to the CDC, they don’t care what soap you use, as long as it is soap!  And while this is great, not all soap is created equal, and the wrong kind can damage your skin.

So, while we want you wash up and use soap, we want you to do it with the right product and in the right way.  We’re going to repeat this old adage that you probably heard for the first time when the pandemic started.  That is, lather up your hands with soap and sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice before rinsing your hands.  Ok, now that that is out of the way, let’s continue.

Using mass produced soap is fine because it does get its intended job done.  It cleans your hands and that is the important goal.  But, at what cost?  What we mean is that while, yes, manufactured soap is doing its job, it is stripping your skin of layers of valuable oils and moisture that is going to dry your skin out causing flaking and, in some cases, rashes and peeling.  We don’t want that for your skin.

Use Natural Soap!

When you use natural handmade soap, you are still washing with the ingredients necessary to kill germs and bacteria, but you aren’t washing with chemicals and preservatives that are going to dry your skin out.  Mass soap manufacturers use these chemicals and harsh ingredients to prolong the shelf life of their product.  It isn’t really about your well-being but more about being able to produce the product in mass quantities which, in turn, saves them money.  But it does nothing great for your skin.

Then these companies will try to sell you lotions and potions that moisturize and hydrate your skin.  Handmade natural soaps are made in small batches, leaving the moisture in, and allowing the soap to keep your skin hydrated and healthy without having to add a bunch of chemical ridden products on top of it.  Which would you rather use?

We know that handmade soap can cost more but it also lasts longer and is better for your skin.  We think that is worth the extra price and we’re sure you do too.  So, while it is important to keep clean and safe, do it the healthy way, not the big box way.

We at Shmutzies wish you happy holidays and peace and health in the new year.  Thank you for your support!
