Positive Vibes from Shmutzies, the Soap People
Spring forward and make a change
It doesn’t matter if you are a grandparent, mom, dad, sister, brother, or golden retriever, everyone needs to get up and get going! With this pandemic going on it’s easy to become complacent and stay motionless but now is the best time to spring forward and make a change! If you don’t you will find yourself in a Netflix coma instead of doing something healthy for your body like a walk or bike ride around your neighborhood.
Do you need some inspiration? Here are a few suggestions to help you start small in an effort to make a big change.
Add basic activity to your day
Start by going up and down the stairs (if you have them), parking your farther away at the essential stores, and walking a few laps around your block. These small steps help you become more active and burn significant calories over time.
Yoga or meditation
Do some yoga or meditation on your back porch. Feel the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair.
Gardening
Dig a garden and plant some vegetables and herbs. Herbs do wonders for our health, and they give our bodies an additional healthy boost.
Bad weather, no excuse
If the weather is bad outside, don’t use that as an excuse. Even though a lot of indoor places are closed right now, you can hit your local home improvement store, which is massive, and walk around the perimeter of the store (mask and gloves on of course). In addition to getting some cardio in, you can check out the sales as well!
One new workout each week
Try one new cardiovascular workout each week for a month. You can do this from the comfort of your own. There are many invaluable resources at your disposal online from Instagram to YouTube and everything in between. You are bound to find tons to try!
You are the one in charge of making a good choice to be your best self. The weather is warming up and cabin fever is no longer an excuse. Practice social distancing and get out there and move! Making that first step to get off the couch and into the sunshine will benefit you! Simply moving around will energize your day, sharpen your mind, and boost your overall health.
Don’t forget, that taking care of yourself also means eating right, getting enough sleep, and taking care of your body. Use this opportunity of time to learn new healthy recipes (or to cook if you don’t know how), keep yourself on a good sleep schedule, and take care of your body! That can be something as simple as using good, natural, handmade soap to clean or taking a long hot bath to help soothe tired muscles. The key is to keep yourself happy and healthy, especially during these times.
